Though no one knows us better than ourselves still it becomes tricky sometimes as we get confused on what to include and what not to include in our introduction. As we know a lot of things about ourselves sometimes this information overload creates confusion in our mind and we end up telling minimum things about ourselves. At the time of interview our introduction helps us to create our good impression on the interviewer as it is one of the opportunities to showcase our achievements to the interviewer. As it is one of the critical juncture of the interview, a good introduction may cease a good job opportunity for us and vice versa. We may take care of following things while introducing ourselves to make it more impressive:
  • Use chronological order: It is always good to give your introduction in chronological order. This carry your information in a flow as well as you do not forget to tell anything which is essential. That means start with your name, family background, Education, Professional Qualification, Projects, History of Employment (If any), hobbies and Achievements.

  • Keep environment energetic: Use positive body language along with energetic tone while talking to the interviewer. A smiling face makes a pleasant environment. One should be able to maintain the balance between High energy and matured conversation.

  • Showcase Achievements: Interviewer gives us a chance to tell about your achievements and success stories through your introduction. We can also include work done for social welfare into it. It may show that we also assume social responsibility and we are a responsible citizen. Always highlight your achievements which are relevant and may create positive impression of yours in the mind of the interviewer.

  • Show your positive qualities: One can use the introduction to demonstrate his/her positive qualities to the interviewer. If these qualities are matching to the job you have applied for, there is every chance that you get a good shot on the opportunity.

  • Crisp and Clear: We should use simple language to introduce ourselves so that interviewer gets the clarity about whatever we told him. Introduction should not be very lengthy; preferably it should be crisp so that Interviewer doesn’t get irritated. However, crisp doesn’t mean cutting the necessary information. Essential information should always be shared.

  • Relevance: Keep your introduction connected to the theme of job you are applying for. That means include those things in your introduction which are relevant for the interview. One should get the essence from your interview that you are suitable for this job. Also only share relevant information so that interview stays on track.

  • Be honest: We should be honest while introducing ourselves. We should avoid adding information which is not true. Sometimes to create our positive information, we add some untrue information which misleads the interviewer. However, it also gives an opportunity to the interviewer to dig deep in the information to check whether you are speaking truth or not. In case the interview gets to know that you are sharing false information, he will reject you straight away.
